One of Wessan\\\\\\'s clinical heros... Neurologist, Psychiatrist, Survivor of Nazi death camps "I never would have made it if I could not have laughed. It lifted me momentarily out of this horrible situation just enough to make it livable." ~ Viktor E. Frankl, MD In my DBT Skills Groups (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), when we work on the "Distress Tolerance" module I blend in best practices from my therapeutic laughter training. I model my therapeutic laughter practice upon the shoulders and in the spirit of Dr. Viktor Frankl. Dr. Frankl survived his imprisonment in Auschwitz by developing these powerful resilience tools and advanced cognitive behavioral "self-talk" techniques to endure his four year ordeal. He shared his experience, strength and hope in his powerful book, Man\\\\\\'s Search for Meaning. I have studied and worked with his logotherapy protocol for years, using Dr. Frankl\\\\\\'s Paradoxical Intention, Laughter Therapy and other "counter intuitive" methods to support you in your transformation process. Dr. Frankl has taught me that your vulnerability is your superpower…when you cease to be ashamed of your personal challenges we can then work to overcome them. One thing I have learned for sure is that being able to laugh at the absurdities, incongruities and paradoxes of your life is very much a part of your path to wholeness. Learning to embrace the truly non-binary paradoxes of your life is the beginning of transcending them. Then you, too, will find yourself feeling more peaceful and useful, and ultimately much happier.
